課程概述

Chapter 2: Properties and Description of Light
2.1~2.7: properties of photons, plane waves, geometrical optics,
Gaussian beams, Ray matrices, description of light polarization,
and light characteristics

Chapter 3: Laser interactions between light and matter
3.2~3.9: refraction and dispersion, absorption and emission, Fresnel’s formula,
Birefringence, optical activity, and diffraction

Chapter 4: Nonlinear interaction of light and matter
4.2~4.4: non-resonant interaction, nonlinear polarization of the medium,
second-order effects

Chapter 7: Nonlinear optical spectroscopy
7.1~7.7: general procedure, conventional absorption and emission,
nonlinear transmission, pump and probe measurements

Prepare students with knowledge and skills
to understand and analyze the milestone papers
in the area of nonlinear optics and lasers.
